President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on the claims that Babachir violated the law and due process. President Buhari further demanded that an investigation be organised as soon as possible over the allegations on the suspended SGF.
The investigation into the discovery of looted money by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Osbourne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos which was under the guise of a residential apartment. The National Intelligence Agency( NIA) had earlier claimed ownership of the billions recovered
Mr. David Babchir Lawal is reported to be link to the discovered billions. The investigation was organised to question the reasons why the NIA was in possession of such amounts of money, why and how such amounts of money were needed in any public service. The President ordered the immediate suspension of the Director General of the NIA , Ambassador Ayo Oke until the end of the investigation
Following the procession of the ongoing investigation, a three-man committee was set up ; it comprised of the Minister of Justice, Hon Attorney-General of the Federation, National Security Adviser and it was presided by the Vice President .The committee was to head the ongoing investigation and to submit a report to the president after 14 days..
