15% of MTN’s Nigerian work force has been sacked due to economic situation, the South African Owned Telecommunications Firm lays off over 280 workers, some who had served the company for over 15 years ranging for General Managers to even new recruits.

Funsho Aina, the spokesperson for the company could not be reached today but some sources say that the company dismissed the workers without their full severance pay despite the amount of money the company earns.

Though the company was hit in 2106 with a  fine over their refusal to withdraw 5.2 million subscribers who had not been registered on the network.
